How to load TEO-5 SysEx sound banks

1. Directly from the TEO-5 over USB

Connect the TEO-5 to your computer over USB and open TED-8. TED-8 detects the unit by itself, and a TEO-5 submenu appears in the main menu (right-click an empty area of the panel).

• In the TEO-5 submenu, turn on Link to TEO-5.
• Get All User Programs loads all 256 user programs from the TEO-5 into the current TED-8 bank. This replaces the 256 programs in that bank, so create one first with New Bank... if you want to keep the bank you have.
• Get Edit Buffer loads only the sound the TEO-5 is playing right now into the current TED-8 slot.
• Follow Unit Program Changes: when this is on, TED-8 switches to the matching slot each time you change program on the TEO-5 and loads that program. This works well for picking out single sounds, factory programs included.
• Save the bank in TED-8 so the sounds stay.

To keep a copy of everything that's on the unit, use Backup TEO-5... in the File menu. It saves all user programs to one .syx file and leaves the TED-8 bank alone.

2. From .syx files

If you already have TEO-5 SysEx files (your own backups, or banks you bought or downloaded), use the File menu:

• Import Bank... loads a .syx file with several programs as a TED-8 bank.
• Import Preset... loads a .syx file with one program into the current slot.

You can also send sounds the other way. Send to Edit Buffer, Write Program to User... and Write Bank to User Memory... put TED-8 sounds on the TEO-5. Export TEO-5 Preset/Bank (SysEx)... saves them as .syx files. The write options overwrite user memory on the unit, so run Backup TEO-5... first.
