HighLife is a performance sampler with a built-in wave editor, five effects, morphable parameters, and a 32-bit floating point engine. Reads WAV, MP3, FLAC, and other common formats.

Performance sampler with a 32-bit float engine, built-in wave editor, sample library, and morphable parameters. Native Apple Silicon, with SSD-optimized parallel sample loading.
Scalable HiDPI GUI. Free for non-commercial use; the paid version unlocks commercial use and ZBP (Bliss Program) round-trip support.
Up to 32 voices, multi-layered zones. SINC 128 by default; SINC 512 in offline bounce. ThreadPool-based parallel loading for fast library imports.
2x oversampling on the engine reduces aliasing in nonlinear stages and tightens transient response near Nyquist. Samples over 25 MB switch to disk-streaming reference mode automatically.
Mono / poly / legato with glide and auto-switch. Full MIDI input handling including sustain pedal (CC64). Engine settings sync across all plugin instances in a project. Save Samples in State embeds samples in the project and warns on missing files.
Each layer holds two parameter sets — morph source and morph target. Mod wheel or velocity moves between them in real time.
Useful for samples that should change as you play harder, not stay frozen.
Zoom to 1:1, independent L/R/stereo selections, visible drag handles, persistent zoom. Browses from Documents > discoDSP > HighLife > Samples.
Cut, copy, paste, trim, fades, normalize, DC removal. Reverse, rectifier, sin/tanh drive, enhance, and AKAI S1000-modeled time stretch / smoothing. Auto loop-point detection. Up to 128 MIDI-triggerable cues. Four loop types: forward, bidirectional, backward, forward-with-sustain.
Zero-delay feedback, 24 dB/oct, in Lowpass / Highpass / Bandpass / Notch (or off). Cutoff and Resonance are zipper-free; cutoff calibration and the display map are aligned for 2x oversampling mode.
Velocity and keytracking are routed by default.
Independent envelopes for amplitude, modulation, filter, and pitch. Amp envelope is ADSR; mod envelope is bipolar and routes to cutoff and pitch.
Syncable LFO with configurable phase, routable to amp, cutoff, resonance, or pitch. Mod wheel, pitch bend, and CC routing are zipper-free.
Chorus (level, delay, feedback, rate, mod), and a delay with sync and cross-delay options.
Reverb with room, width, and damping. Two character effects — Daft for transformative weirdness and Rock Da Disco for instant punch and pump.
Audio: WAV, MP3, OGG, FLAC, RAW, SND (Akai MPC 2000-compatible). Programs: AKAI S5000/S6000 (.AKP), SFZ, and ZBP (Bliss Program) with full round-trip fidelity.
SFZ parser handles comments in sample lines, extra opcodes in sample paths, multi-region group settings, special characters, case-insensitive lookup, and velocity-layer edge cases. Full ADSR opcode support, group-level parameters, and auto-mapping when you open multiple files (drum spread included). Exports as SFZ, ZBP (24-bit FLAC with embedded metadata), or WAV with loop points preserved.
Universal Binary 2: Native Intel and Apple Silicon.
Standalone Application: No additional software required.
ProTools AAX. Apple Audio Unit. Steinberg VST. Steinberg VST3.
