    November 1, 2004 – Receptor + discoDSP plugins

Muse Research, Inc. announced that it will ship the Discovery virtual analog synthesizer and Vertigo additive synth plug-in by discoDSP with their v1.0.1 software release. These synths bring remarkable functionality and a vast sound palette to Receptor, their portable hardware VST player. Discovery and Vertigo will be shown at the 117th AES show in addition to being made available for download on the company’s www.plugorama.com website. All Receptor owners can download the plug-in from the plugorama website and try Discovery or Vertigo free for 30 days.

Discovery Features amazing virtual analog performance at a bargain price. Discovery DSP is a truly powerful virtual analog synth with dozens of powerful features, such as multi layering, a built-in arpeggiator, sync, FM capabilities, 8 filter types, panning modulation, stereo delay and gate effects, and thousands of enticing presets.

Discovery’s architecture provides maximum flexibility when programming your own sounds. Start by selecting from the two oscillators, and then add one of the several types of filters, and then program the appropriate ADSR envelope for the sound. Finally, the flexible modulation scheme and built-in effects allow you to color your sound to your liking and save it to one of the 128 patch memories in one of 38 banks. With support for 4 layers per patch, and morphing between layers, Discovery quickly becomes a remarkably expressive synth for any type of music. Discovery even imports Nord Lead 2 and Nord Lead 2X patches directly.

Vertigo offers rich additive synthesis sounds coupled with powerful user interface. The notion of additive synthesis was once confined to research institutions due to the demanding computational load required by the nature of Additive Synthesis. Now with Receptor, it’s possible to have additive synthesis available in a portable form. Vertigo has two discrete additive synth engines for creating layers, and also for morphing between individual sounds using a mod wheel or such real time parameters such as keyboard velocity.

    go to vertigo page

Vertigo’s programming capabilities are quite impressive, with a dedicated spectral viewmode that makes it possible to evolve spectra using a variety of control mechanisms, including importing the user’s own bitmaps. To top it all off, Vertigo offers impressive resynthesis capabilities, a rather remarkable feature considering the price of the product.

For more information, about Receptor, visit www.museresearch.com, or send an email to info@museresearch.com, or call +(650) 326-5400.
